I’m not sure. Obama had a lot of popular support, and a lot of donors. I’m sure it was a pretty awesome amount.

Counting the 30 minute broadcast on three networks (which I dearly wish McCain would have done as well), the figure I heard was somewhere around $500 million. Granted, it’s no good collecting all those donations and NOT spending them on the campaign! Do you think if McCain had gotten as much support, he would have spent it all too?
Obama raised more money its that simple, thus he can spend more. Or are you going to blame it on him having all the black people in the nation behind him and spewing money to him? The election is over give all this a rest–it serves no purpose whatsoever. Quit fueling this racial fire already its sickening!
i think obama spent about $600 million for the whole election cycle.
I think I remember hearing in CNN that he was out spending John McCain 4-1 …but I think that was in Florida if im not mistaken.
Random has it right, that money was mostly from foreign countries.
I think your question should ask by how many electorate votes did Obama win by. That’s how we elect our President.

0 raised $639 million vs poor old suckered McCain that agreed with 0 to just use govt election money which left him only $84 million. Then of course, 0 ‘changed his mind’ about the deal and went with $579,178,033 in ‘untraceable’ public donations plus other funding.
So, for your figure per vote ‘bought’, lets see: 639 divided by 8 = is about $798.75 per voter. Who says money can’t buy socialism?

I heard on the news that Obama spent nearly three times the amount McCain did, figures are approx…350 million-McCain, 685 million-Obama..of course these amounts were not just in the last week of the campaign.
