Does it seem like people are being a little disrespectful to “President” Barack Obama?

Simple context.

It seems like a lot of news agencies (namely Fox News), do not refer to Barack Obama as “President” or append the title “President”. Seems like, they always said “President Bush”, but they are not saying “President Obama”. Anybody else realize what they (Primary Fox News) is doing?

I try not to listen to those old people.

  2. How_Would_I_Know says:

What has Obama done that makes him deserve any respect?

  3. Adolf Hitler says:

No because that channel is a joke to begin with so why would I waste my time? Although I do respect their anti-information campaign, although done without tact, I might say.

  4. Dem Spin says:

I notice they call him Mr Obama a lot.

  5. krystale says:

its bc alot of ppl are not terribly fonde of him and perfer not to address him that way the network is just trying to respectfully express their view they could be doing alot worse.

  6. LzzrdBoy says:

In my opinion, one must conduct themselves as a President before being called one. That said, Obama is no President. He may have the job, but that’s about it.

    Peace!

  7. Bibigirl says:

I guess you never noticed all the other media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC,CNBC,ABC,NBC and CBS calling President Bush, “Mr. Bush”. I guess FOX is just doing what they were taught.

  8. Glenn says:

It’s been that way since day 1. They still can’t accept it. They don’t believe they have to respect him because he’s not who they believe should be a president of this country. Presidents are supposed to be white men. Some people can’t accept that and that’s who Fox panders to. Sad.

  9. ThomasS says:

I think what’s happened is Americans expect mutual respect from their president; and in cases where he apologizes for u.s., or slams a certain state which causes harm (i.e. the slam against Las Vegas, and trouble with Arizona) – - Americans just naturally feel targeted.

  10. just some dude says:

Since we don’t live in a monarchy, we don’t need to respect politicos. The US constitution also forbids titles, although that has largely been ignored. Respect is earned, not granted automatically.

  11. regerugged says:

Obama does not deserve respect. Respect is something that has to be earned.

  12. strata says:

were you born on obama’s inauguration day?????for 8 years the left and their nutjob arm’s such as moveon.org the huff post and every alphabet network were VILE to president bush..calling him vile disrespectful names..on the very day of obama’s inauguration when president bush and his wife came out on the platform..the vile picture of rahm emmanual with a filthy gesture aimed at bush?? look it up..that IS the face of the “defeatocrat party”

  13. John 15:20 says:

I respect the title he holds, but the man has done nothing but weaken America and he and the libs have shown their disdain and hatred for the American people…..I don’t respect him at all!

  14. Joe says:

And you have what to back up these claims?

You liberals are so far removed from reality that it is pitifully sad. Liberals around this country supported the actions of the man that threw a shoe at Bush?

Liberals have no legs to stand on regarding this issue. To date in US history, only Liberals have made a movie on the assassination of a former president.

Why does the president always blame everything on the Bush administration.

Try again when you are and able to comprehend the facts.

  15. che_obama says:

He earned the disrespect through his incredible Arrogance.

  16. Shovel Ready says:

    Respect is a two-way street.

  17. Alman says:

It’s mostly due to repetition, they called president bush, president bush because his father was also “President Bush.” The beginning of Bush’s term he was known as George W. Bush because that was his political name during his campaign. Like Hillary Rodem Clinton (later Hillary Clinton to start a new era for her campaign for president). Obama’s political name was Barack Obama or sometimes just Obama. Some people wanted to put Hussein in his political name but they knew that wouldn’t go well with citizens. The point is that when you refer to someone politically you think of their political names because it brings them back to their campaign brands. A lot of people think Obama is still in campaign mode trying to win over support of the people, even though he is still the president. Seeing Obama going to townhall meetings giving speeches makes you think you are looking at 2008.

It doesn’t matter if they use the appropriate titles anymore. It used to be a big deal if you didn’t call someone by their appropriate title such as Mr. Mrs. Senator President or Mayor. The titles before names are not much of a requirement as a few decades ago. The military will mostly keep this high priority such as General, Sargent, and if they were to talk to each other informally the higher ranking officer will just call the lower ranking officer by their last name.

  18. Edward says:

“President” and”Mr” are both routinely used interchangeably to refer to the president. This is how it was for Clinton, Bush, and now Obama. If you notice a disparity now, I’m sad to say that it’s because you’re looking for it or are at least more likely to notice when he’s not called “President.” I cannot speak to the motivations of any specific station or personality, but as a whole there’s no disrespect intended.
