Only 1 time has our US Govt been in worse financial shape than today – Civil War Times – when the ratio of tax revenue to Nat’l Debt was much worse
But LIncoln solved the problem by placing taxes on the richest 10% (he said they ought to pay since the rich lost few children in the war – much like in Iraq)
He put an income tax, an inheritance tax, & even an asset tax on the wealthy
SO PLEASE INCREASE THE MAX TAX RATE ON THE TOP 10% TO BALANCE THE BUDGET – IT’S DOABLE

The truth is that you can break everybody in the US in two groups. The first 50% are republican inclined, the other 50% are democrat inclined. It doesn’t make sense to call Democrats Socialists, and to call Republican dumb. The truth is that a lot of republicans and ultra-conservative like their social security checks, and a lot of democrats and liberals like very low taxes. The truth is we can’t have social security, medicare, and roads without taxes. So how do we have both?
Obama… You bow down to Ben Bernake and you don’t care about anybody. Try eliminating the real problem: the federal reserve. Until you do that, no one will ever respect you. Unemployment is close to 20%. I’m a college grad and I still can’t find work. Quit printing money to fix the problem and quit spending all our tax dollars. You’re a bad person.
Can you create stimulus for small towns to install
” Sky Trolleys” in snowy regions and harsh climates so they can cut down on road repairs . It’s the inequivalent of installing a 20 lane road for traffic .
No weather condition exists that stops them from running.
Open their eyes to the potential of solving their road problems at minimal expense .

National Debt 2001 4.9 trillion
National Debt 2007 10.6 trillion
National Debt 2011 14.07 trillion.
Presidents apart, America is on a slope of debt precipice. Roughly a trillion dollars a year,on everything, compounded.
Renew the American economy from the Universities. Take 50billion dollars ( a pittance ) and deliver to the 50 best universties in the USA spread over 5 years. The conditions are job and industry creation through research.

@portlanddem – you make a good pt – any company which moved operations overseas to take advantage of cheap labor should pay a tariff on moving those goods into our country – (China has a 25% tariff).
Also cut Defense Dept spending by 30% & increase the MAX TAX RATE by 30% on income over $250K & our debt problem can be solved.
