By how much will Barack Obama lower gas price? I am poor and I cannot afford to pay $4 for gas?

I am high school chemistry teacher and I support Barack Obama.

    UH, none.

  2. iceman says:

    the big $0.00
actually they will go up b\c dems love taxes

  3. kincaid1 says:

Sorry, but Barack will be able to do nothing. Bush has already asked the oil companies to come down on the prices and produce more, but they laughed in his face.

Maybe our governors should quit taxing us on the gasoline. We get taxed enough!

  4. Michael S says:

    Hey, make your own biodiesel.

  5. Lethal weapon (TKD Black belt) says:

he will raises it up to $5 a gallon to please his Muslim friends

  6. Robyn H says:

I am Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

  7. J 1 says:

If Obama gets in the office, the gas prices will be a lot more then $4.

How can you support him? Look at the science, it proves he is incompetent!

  8. electra_glide_069 says:

Gas prices will rise to pay off the social programs that he wants. Does anyone have any legitimate reasons to vote for this man.

  9. Milo[: ILY! says:

Nobody can afford to pay four dollars for gas!

  10. J J says:

No President has control over the price of gas, the future traders and OPEC does.

Obama can lower global warming though, by not making his empty public speechs.

  11. ScarlettRhiannon says:

Barrack lower our gas prices? LOL. Good luck.

  12. gizkazz says:

Wake up and smell the roses the price will not go down

  13. Mat G says:

Baraq Obama cannot lower gas prices, oil exporters do.

  14. fro says:

Since you’re a teacher I had hoped you would be a lot smarter than be an Obama supporter. Here’s a news flash…..he will not lower gas prices! That’s only a political lie he is telling to get votes. He has absolutely no control over the price of oil.

  15. Billy says:

    Obama = 0
and I don’t care if you’re a political science student supporting President Putin of Russia!

  16. Stuart says:

No politician is, or will be in a position to set prices of gas.

You’d do well to ask when Exxon is going to take a profit loss.

  17. American Beauty says:

I don’t understand why you’re lying. You don’t support Obama at all! If you can’t afford $4 for gas, take the bus or car pool like other people who are saving on gas.

  18. Billy11B says:

Unless he buys a gas station in your neighborhood and sells gas for less then he pays the wholesaler for it I don’t think he will lower the price anyone pays. The president doesn’t have any control over the price – the market does.

  19. Daniel says:

One person can’t control the prices. He won’t be able to drop them any more than Bush has personally risen them. However, it didn’t take long for prices to start dropping after the last Bush left office.

  20. StereotypeMeBecauseYouKnow says:

zip. The President does not have that kind of power. You are a teacher???

Edit: Maybe when Obama shuts the door on our business interests in the Middle East (to appease Bin Laden, and make the world love us again) that should really bring them down.
    -Dream Weaver

  21. Sweetharttt says:

How someone with an education be a cult supporter of Obama is beyond my reasoning. Good old Barack will not have the power to lower your gas prices. Count on them going higher, extremely higher, than the projected $4.00 a gallon.

  22. Louis S says:

If you support Obama, as stated, then dig deep in those pockets. It won’t just be the $4 for gas you will be paying; but your taxes will go to support Obama’s Global Poverty Act, allocating $875 Billion dollars to the United Nations to spread around the world – not one dime going to the U.S. Those funds will come out of the taxpayer’s pockets – like yours.

  23. oui-oui says:

if Bush who is a good friend of the Saudi familly, can’t help to lower the price , I doubt that Obama will be able to do it..\\

the problem is more about the Dollar being so lame on the wolrd market … and the chinese also want some oil.. everyone want it, the USA like his Hummers, so you will have to pay for it..

  24. capnbilly says:

he doesnt have the power to “lower” fuel prices

however he is planning on “greening” teh economy and that by saving usage will help lower prices

also, without have a president that is constantly threatening Iran with war the speculators will no longer have an excuse for running up the price as they have the last few years

it was only $28/barrel only 5 years ago but every time bush and cheney make a speech about war with Iran the price jumps $10/barrel

  25. Jeff M says:

Well…. If he lets us drill in ANWAR or the Dakotas or off the coast of California or the coast of Florida or the Great lakes (ALL PROVEN OIL RESEARVES) then gas prices could go down to around a $1.

but of course he is a demoncrat so he won’t do that…

Thus gas prices will continue to climb.

  26. JYogi says:

He will not lower it, it will go up as a result of his policy. Till we drill in Alaska and build more refineries here in the US gas will keep going up.

Try doing your homework first… Dem’s are not known for lowering costs or really supporting peace…

    So much for proven history.

Everyone should read this if they haven’t before.

For those of us who spent time in the military, believe in our military and support the men and women of our military, read on………….

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That’s just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn’t
have started this war, state the following:

FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II.

Germany never attacked us ; Japan did.
    From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in Korea
    North Korea never attacked us
    From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost …
an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
    Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
Fr om 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
    Bosnia never attacked us .
He was offered Osama bin Laden’s head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
    multiple occasions.

In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the D emocrats are complaining
about how long the war is taking.

    But Wait,
    There’s more!

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT)
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
    That was a 51-day operation..

We’ve been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
    Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!

Our Commander -In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB !
    The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
    to realize the facts

    But Wait

    There’s more!

JOHN GLENN (on the Senate floor – January 26, 2004)

Some people still don’t understand why military personnel
do what they do for a living. This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
impromptu speech, but it’s also a good example of one
man’s explanation of why men and women in the armed
services do what they do for a livin g.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what
some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
‘How can you run for Senate when you’ve never held a real job?’

    Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
‘I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn’t my
checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was
not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the
daily cash receipts to the bank.’

‘I ask you to go with me . . as I went the other day…
to a veteran’s hospital and look those men …
with their mangled bodies . in the eye, and tell THEM
    they didn’t hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA
and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans
of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee…
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them
    that their DAD’S didn’t hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
buried than I’d like to remember, and you watch
    those waving flags.
You stand there, and you think about this nation,
and you have the gall to tell ME that those people didn’t have a job?

    What about Metzenbaum?’

    For those who don’t remember
During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney
representing the Communist Party in the USA

    Now he’s a Senator!

It might not be a bad idea to keep this circulating. I AM!!!

  27. pml49 says:

Well, you might as well get ready to stay poor if Obama becomes President.

  28. tdxn92a says:

Maybe this will help answer your question.

Here’s a quote from Obama, “My Economics Bill Will Help America”
I say LIAR, his 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even HE voted against his own bill.

  29. Dune says:

He can’t, even if he was to become President. The price of oil is governed by speculation and those that control that are the bulk buyers.
Just follow the prices of oil on the commodities market.
For any President to meddle with the free market, he is inviting big trouble.

  30. Think for yourself says:

    Complain to your oil companies

  31. Don't Know says:

He will have no control in setting the gas price. Just like Bush does not have control either.

  32. Fatboy says:

I doubt he’ll have any power to lower the gas prices. I can’t believe that a teacher, of all people, would even believe such. Wherever he lowers the price of anything, he’ll offset such with his higher taxation. You’ll find yourself putting a little change in your front pocket while you’re digging for bigger dollars from your wallet/purse.

For goodness sake, and the sake of our youth, it’s time for teachers to set good examples for our students. Why put our youth through such a terrible leadership period with the likes of Obama.

As a teacher, just think if Obama is elected, we won’t need as many teachers in the future with his plans to have taxpayers pay for future abortions.

If you think you have little disposable income now, just wait and see what happens if Obama is elected.

  33. Lisa N says:

    empty promises.

no one can afford gas these days. i hope something changes but don’t hold your breath that Obama is going to make the difference!!

  34. let_it_b_a_lesson_to_u says:

Depends if he builds more wind generation infrastructure it will reduce the amount of oil used to generate electricity and the carbon emission. And since we all agree that it is a supply and demand thing the supply will increase over time thereby drive down the price.

Yeah yeah I know there are people that say it can be done but we all know the world is not flat.

  35. RandomThoughts says:

What is he going to do that will make the price of crude oil go down, wave his magic wand or something? He’s not going to do anything to lower the price. And since he isn’t going to be elected anyway, what is the point of this question anyway?

  36. Stanley says:

As a teacher I am ashamed that you are online making ignorant statements like this! I think maybe you need to stop breathing in all those chemicals. They have fried your common sense!

People of America believe me when I say teachers are not all like this!

  37. quantumrift says:

Well, then, if you are a “high school” chemistry teacher you should KNOW that a PRESIDENT does not set GASOLINE PRICES! You should be TEACHING economics instead. The president has NOTHING to do with free market economy and what is going on in China and India (their economies are booming because ‘poor’ folks like you shop at Wal Mart, and Wal Mart dictates to manufacturers what price they WILL sell their merchandise at. So to meet WAL MART’s price demands, manufacturers drop jobs here to get their stuff made as cheap as possible in CHINA. So they can sell it at Wal Mart. So you can buy it and save money.

China is now a major oil IMPORTER and therefore has to compete with the United States in buying OIL. That drives the supply down and the price up. So, teacher, it does not matter WHO you support – the FACT is that even if Obama is ELECTED he cannot do anything to bring the price of oil down. It’s people like you and me who DEMAND gasoline who keep the supply low and the price high.

And if you think ETHANOL is the answer, think again:

$4 a gallon will be cheap compared to the cost of food skyrocketing due to the ethanol scam. And you better hope that Obama, if elected, won’t continue to subsidize this energy scam….

    http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1725975,00.html

If you are that poor, then I suggest you REDUCE your gasoline consumption by carpooling, public transportation, or get a BICYCLE and ride to school. You can get a summer job to supplement your income.

The only way to reduce price is to 1) increase supply and/or 2) reduce demand.

Right now the world is doing neither.

  38. andy says:

0 $ it’s all politics. promises- promises-promises say it but don’t mean it

  39. Darth Scorn says:

He’ll lower it to a song from the heart.

  40. RB says:

We live in a free market society. If Obama or who ever gets elected tried to regulate oil prices, the oil companies would simply slow down production. We would have the biggest oil crises this country has ever seen. Do you remember the gas crises of the mid 1970′s. The government tried to regulate the price and supply was low, lines were long and most gas stations limited customers to a 10 gallon limit.

  41. mark030150 says:

What makes you think that Obama would have ANY control over gas prices?

  42. Jon says:

politicians can only raise the price of tax… not lower it…
they add taxes, or start a war or something…
    then the price goes up

as oil gets more scarce.. prices will only get higher.
The US has some of the cheapest gas prices in the world… be thankful.
in Europe its way more expensive.

Start thinking about using less gas, rather than hoping prices will get lower. In the long run, gas is unviable.

Get a smaller, lighter car. or turbo diesel.
(hybrids aren’t really any good yet)
think about plug in electrics in a couple of years time

What politicians can do is put weight restrictions on cars.
The reason that gas mileage hasn’t really gotten any better recently… is that although engines are much more efficient than they used to be…. all the cars got bigger and heavier.

  43. A nobody says:

Your a true Liberal flooding the internet on your crusade for Obama. How much more of your push for Obama are you going to submit.

If you’re so poor get a better job, and stop you complaining

For the record, Obama’s game plan will increase the price of gas about 30-40 percent

Also, your marxist Obama will also cause a very negative effect on your precious teacher’s retirement plan but
you’re to dumb to see that

  44. Nicolas says:

He will declare that nobody should have cars. Consequently the gas price will drop to zero.

  45. Mr. Knowledgeable VI says:

    I personally do not believe any political candidate can lower the cost of gasoline. There are two reasons why gasoline keeps going up in America;

    1. The environmentalist DO NOT want the United States of America to drill for oil in the United States. As a result, we have to get gasoline from another nation which cost the American driver an arm, a leg, and two feet. If the environmentalist had it their ways, we would be riding bikes and walking everywhere.

    2. There are more cars on the road in America today then there were 20 years ago and therefore, it cost more for gasoline and car maintenance today than 20 years ago.

If you believe paying $4 a gallon for gasoline is expensive, try paying the gas prices in Europe. Europeans have told me that they pay between double and triple the amount of money for gasoline in Europe than they pay in America so if you have to pay $4.00 here, try paying between $8 and $12 dollars for just one gallon of gasoline. That is expensive and I would rather pay $4 for a gallon then paying around $10 for a gallon of gasoline.

  46. Richard H says:

The presidential candidates have no control over the price of oil. $0.00.

  47. Ms. Answers says:

    I don’t think any

  48. Victor Bout says:

It is irrefutable that gas prices will go up because a Democratic President.

What Obama will bring to gas prices include an increase on the tax on gas, increase the taxes gas companies pay, he will also increase the EPA requirements reducing drilling rights and new refinery production.

Obama is a well-spoken elitist liberal. If you believe that he can reduce gas prices than you are waisting your vote…
