Obama all for clean energy

President Obama today toured a solar photovoltaic array at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

The solar-powered cells provide a quarter of the base’s power needs, covers 140 acres and generates more than 14 megawatts of electricity. It is a $100 million public-private solar power project.

In his address to about 400 people at Nellis, including Air Force personnel, civilian workers and families living on the base, Obama said more than $467 million in stimulus money will be used “to expand and accelerate the development, deployment and use of geothermal and solar energy throughout the United States.” [Source: Associated Press]

I agree, solar and other clean energy alternatives is the way forward. If the market for these energy sources can be stimulated through government incentives, even subsidies, the prices will go down for homeowners and consumers, creating more demand, lowering manufacturing costs, resulting in cheaper prices, and so on … A win-win for all – especially the environment!

Who know, we may soon even see the White House powered by solar panels (again). :)
